US weekly jobless claims total 268,000 vs. 253,000 estimate

U.S. weekly jobless claims rose to 268,000 for the week ended November 26, according to the latest data from the Labor Department.

This represents a jump of 17,000 from the prior week when claims came in at 251,000.

Economists expected initial claims for state unemployment benefits to hit 253,000 for the week ended November 26, according to a Thomson Reuters consensus estimate.
